VMLP joins Dagupan's world’s longest barbecue bid

The Vice Mayors League of the Philippines Pangasinan Chapter took part in this year’s Dagupan City Bangus Festival.

The VMLP bought 20 barbecue grills, which was part of the record-breaking 2.2-kilometer grill set up by the city government for the event.

The feat, however, will still be validated by the Guinness World Records in London after the festival documentation team has submitted all the requirements.

In 2003, the city built 1,000.7 meters grills, snatching the world record for longest barbecue from Peru, who had a 617-meter grill built in 1999. In 2004, Turkey built a 1,600-meter long barbecue, grabbing the record from Dagupan City.

The vice mayors, led by Vice Mayor Alvin Fernandez, also participated in the lighting up ceremony with Speaker Jose de Venecia, Japanese Ambassador Ryuichiro Yamasaki, Japanese Embassy Consul Takayuki Shinozawa and US Consul Jennifer Vantrump as guests.
